The car on the end "LLSTCo" is a stock car for the Lackawanna Live Stock Transportation Co. The LLST is part of Cold Blast Transportation which supplied cars for Schwarzschild & Sulzberger Co (later on as Sulzberger & Sons after 1910). S&S was one of the 5 largest meat packers in the US, along with Swift, Armour, Cudahy and Morris. In 1916 S&S became Wilson.
This photo is the very first photo of a LLST stock car. Very exciting.
The car is part of the 3100 to 3350 series.

Today's photo of the day on "Shorpy" <http//www.shorpy.com/node/10695?size_original> shows the car ferry "Detroit" crossing the Detroit river in 1905. The string of cars closest to the camera are all stockcars. Nice shot of Mather stock cars at the front of the line, but notice the last two cars. What is the purpose of the box on top the roofs of the last two stock cars?
