The video Omaha Rail Metropolis On the Plains shows "Destination Cards" in use by the UP. The audio refers to them as "Destination Tags". And, yes, the video appears to show them being applied at different locations on the car. Conductor Fraley used the card/tag numbers in his frt conductor book for west bound destinations but used mile post number or simply names for east bound destinations. Incidentally, the video has a great shot of a 4-12-2 leaving the Omaha area. Actual sound? Who knows...
UP Mainfest and Perishable Schedule No. 6 reprinted by the UPHS includes the destination numnbers for both west and east bounds.
