Does anyone know where the code 'ARG' would have been applied? This

Jason, ARG was the GATC shop code for Argentine, Kansas (just outside
Kansas City). Other common GATC shop codes included SHN = Sharon, PA
(the former Standard Tank Car Co. factory which GATC acquired ca.
1928 when STC went broke), EC = East Chicago, TUL = Tulsa, MIL =
Milwaukee and BERK = Berkeley. I'd be careful about assuming that WC
was West Colton, as I have several photos of GATC cars with a COLN
station symbol. Tank cars were sometimes repaired and repainted at
railroad shops if the owners didn't have shops nearby, and on the
Santa Fe WC was the station symbol for West Wichita, a large shops
that specialized in the repair and reconstruction of refrigerator cars.
