I always grit blast styrene and resin materials before assembling with any type of adhesive. It just works better for me.
An abrasive cleanser (Soft Scrub) and toothbrush scrub should also work in lieu of a grit blaster.
Then to attach parts made of unlike materials I like Aleen’s Tacky Glue, strong bond, easy water clean-up, decent working time.
