I model the New York Susquehanna & Western in 1949. One of the industries they served was the Sterling zinc mine in Ogdensburg NJ. A switchlist I have for 1954 shows 5 of the smaller covered LH&R and CNJ covered hoppers plus 12 CNJ gons in the 88000 series loaded with slime. What I'm looking for is information on how they might weather. I have a photo of the hoppers but nothing has turned up showing a gon in that series. The slime was a byproduct of the concentration process and was probably being sent for further processing to recover other minerals. Any knowledge about these cars or their destination would be appreciated.
