I was just looking at photos on the first batch of M&StL 1958s. The running
boards in photos appear to be wood. But, the eguipment register says they're
steel. They sure look solid.

Was in common to put wood running boards on early 1958s? If steel, could
they have been solid? Sounds dangerous.
