I found this item on page 114 in the April, 1954 issue of RAILROAD MAGAZINE:
Frozen Foods are becoming so popular in American diet that the Pacific Fruit Express is adding 200 "super-giant" reefers to its railroad-car fleet which are especially designed for the transportation of frozen foods. The PFE is owned jointly by the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads. In PFE territory the carloadings of frozen foods have nearly doubled in five years.
Does anyone know the car numbers of these "super-giant" reefers?
