I thought the IM R-40-10 predated the R-40-23 also. However. I wasn’t as into prototype modeling when the cars came out so I am not sure. I am waiting for Tony Thompson or Richard Hendrickson to respond.

Brian, Puzzling for me too. Could have been something he started before Intermountain made the R-40-10. Another note, Champ made a set for the BR-40-10. You would think by this time Microscale would have a mini-cal available.

The May 2013 RMC has an article on kitbashing an HO PRE BR-40-10 from a IM
R-40-23 model. The modeling is nicely done, but I am confused? What is wrong
with using the IM R-40-10 model as a starting point other than the trucks
and other easy to change things like running boards?
