Kaolin, was, and is still, a major traffic commodity in the Sandersville Ga area. Being that the Sandersville connected with the C of G I would assume they hauled a lot of this product in the Central cars

What were these covered hoppers used for?

Feed, Kaolin, Cement, and Clay mostly, although the standard "any dry powdered commodity" could be hauled in much the same manner. Sugar was reserved for a group of 4180 cuft Airslides delivered in the post-1960 era.
