I recall watching automobiles being unloaded from a boxcar on to an adjacent concrete platform in 1949 or 1950. The location was on a Pacific Electric side track just north of the PE station and freight house in the city of Compton, Ca. The men that were doing the unloading were using something that looked like a jack on wheels that was placed under the front end of the automobiles to raise their front wheels from the floor of the box car so that it could be pulled out of the door.
