I think a stationary 'clone' decoder (same address as a mobile sound unit)

would work well for some situations -- For example, the clone could emit only deep "bass" sounds (fed through an amplifier) and the mobile only higher frequencies -- The bass is omni-directional, while your sense of direction comes from higher Hz.
