Re: box cars on the MN&S

The July 1940 and April 1942 ORERs show ten (10) MN&S 36 ft box cars, numbered 2501 - 2510.  XM IL 36-0, IW 8-6, IH 8-0, 2448 CUFT, CAPY 80000, doors 6-0W x 7-6H.  The listings include a statement that “Freight cars owned are used in interchange service”.

July 1942, January 1943 and January 1951 ORERs do not list cars and have the statement that “Freight cars owned are not used in commercial service”.

The January 1953 ORER (the most recent copy I have) shows 100 steel box cars, series MNS 1000 - 1099, XM IL 40-6, IW 9-2, IH 10-6, 3898 CUFT, CAPY 100000, doors 6-0W x 9-7H.
