I think you folks are going to need a study of every possible car, in each major production run, for their group rivet patterns.
A while back, a trolley modeling bud of mine surprised me with a rivet pattern for a local trolley, built about 1920, and the body has four different sizes of rivets. Each used in groups for different panels, patterns, sections, and fittings of the body.
