Apologies all - thought this was off-line.  However now that I am taking up bandwidth anyway, I had the distinct privilege of operating on Jared's layout a few weeks ago.


His approach of using a single crew to operate the out and back Alma branch local, is minimalistic, realistic and absolutely engrossing.  It challenges the notion that larger layouts (and his is definitely in the medium to large category) have to be hotbeds of train activity.  Four of us in our roles as engineer, conductor and 2 brakemen spent close to 3 hours replicating the activity of trains 95 and 96 in 1943.  In addition, Jared has shared many of his structures and his concept through several clinics, and it was great to see his structures on the layout and his vision come to life.


I highly recommend that anyone in the area who might be interested contact Jared.
