C&O 36 foot double sheathed boxcar

Bill, it has limited weathering and you are right since
it appears to be in the 84230-84729 series that was built in 1923 by AC&F
with 6 foot wide Youngstown doors replacing the earlier 10 foot wide wooden
double doors for the cars in the 84630-84729 series in 1936 or 1937. If it
was repainted at that time, the paint would be only 6 or 7 years old. Some
wood sided cars did not look as good as it does after that period of
time!
If it is in the 84730-86499 series, also AC&F built
in 1923, its original 5.5 foot wide wooden doors were replaced after 1935 with
Youngstown doors, though the 5.5 wide opening remained and these cars were
renumbered into the 84230-84629 series.
