How about using Golf Shop powdered lead ???

Pour it into the void and embed it with a good liquid wood glue, soaking through it to make a solid mass.

Glue in a a couple of sprue or tabs in the void before putting in the powder to lock in the future solid cured glue/powdered-metal.
