    During the war my father worked as an inspector at the GE Lynn River Works. He was a GE employee but reported directly to an Assistant Sec. of the Navy. The B&M well flats were used to carry all sorts of gears and screws for the Nary's light cruisers and to the best of my knowledge were built with that purpose in mind. Ben
is correct in noting that GE purchased some of the B&M well flats.
