Thank you for bringing this up.
The two undecorated RTR cars are painted black and ready for decaling, assuming you are wanting a black base. The two version are nearly identical. The differences are solely in the frame - take a look at the bolsters and you will see a triangular-shaped poling pocket in the 1949-1951 version. Take a look at the bolsters and you will see a flat rectangle in the 1951+ version.
