Mark, Not quite. The casting integrated the bottom of the tank with the underframe, replacing the traditionally separate structures with a single part that both carried the loads and formed the bottom course to contain the liquid cargo' This lowered the height of the car and allowed the very large 16,200 gallon car to fit in the then extant clearance diagrams. Three additional conventional plate courses were riveted to the cast underframe to form the tank. The Tk-L class came from General American with the Ajax power hand brake, KC airbrakes, and 70 ton one-level Dahlman trucks. However the drawings make it look like there is aconcave shape to the top of the cast to allow the tank to be cradled. Mark
