When I first began dropping in on the Claremont Concord Railroad during our annual family trips to New Hampshire in the 1990s, this unusual boxcar was sitting in the line's tiny yard. It later disappeared, presumably scrapped. It appears this is a USRA car. The side sills, fishbelly underframe and 5/5/5 ends suggest so. That short door opening suggests a purposeful rebuilding, maybe as a milk car.

Any thoughts on this car's history?
