I can offer no scientific evidence that bathroom fans are safe or not, but I’ve been painting in a homemade spray booth equipped with a bathroom fan for over 40 years, using lacquer based paints, so I doubt that is what will get me when it is my time. I think I’m on my second bathroom fan.

We've had this discussion previously and proven quite conclusively that there is no concern with this. I suggest that you check the archives and stop promulgating this inaccurate statement. It is just another fantasy of the model railroad press.

Great care should be taken when selecting a fan for a paint booth. The fan motor could cause atomized paints to ignite if it is not sealed or isolated from the airflow.
