F&C offers a model of these cars:  Neat trucks, by the way.

Question: Does the service restriction actually mean it was assigned to service from some port to the Hershey factory?

Question: How many cars were in this service?

Question: What were the service dates? F&C suggests 1941-1960, but this sounds kind of fishy, and there is certainly more to this story.

Robert Wanner posted these photos on the Facebook Railroad Images Of Bygone Days site.

He commented, " 'To be used exclusively at Hershey, Pa.' So we have a wooden Cocoa bean boxcar 12343 A, the suffix meaning in special service. No doors so hatchbacks on roof and hopper discharge underneath. Dated 7/41, but not sure that's the Built date. Looks new in photo, but could be rebuilt in Reading Shops. Original covered hopper car? Wooden foot block on rail to prevent drifting for photo shoot. Looks like string of brand new (or rebuilt) coal hopper cars in background. Would make interesting model. Reading Company photos."

Interesting car. Anyone know its background?
