Attached are some scans of Sunshine decals for chalk marks. I understood these were actual chalk marks. Also a Denano LOC photo

     Excellent article, well worth reading for anyone. It leaves the impression, though, that there was a "solid" set of codes used in chalk marks, at least on this part of the CP. 

     A man who had worked for the SP once said to  me that he didn't know the marks used in yards other than his own, and didn't always know the marks used by the guys on swing shift.
