Good morning, everybody! 70-ton trucks. The EJ&E had some ASF A3 70-ton trucks with outside clast brakes on some cars. A survivor is at the Fillmore & Western RR in Ventura County, just a 100 miles or so West of LA. It had its outside brakes removed at some point. It may even be a spring-plank truck. -Andy Carlson Ojai CA

I noticed that Eric, and I first thought that those must be replacement trucks. The sideframes look much more modern than 1922, but outside hung on a truck with those sideframes seems very odd.

Interesting trucks, too. The outside-hung brake beam was uncommon on freight cars by the time these were built in 1923.
