Earlier Jeff Ford asks: Is it Schrodinger's car, Unprototypical and aprototypical at the same time?  being a play on Schrodinger's Cat. 
       I think of the Velveteen Rabbit story and how the child's love made it real.  Just as the rabbit had the velvet rubbed off because it was handled so often, the paint on the prior mentioned cast switcher I have is badly wanting. Like Schuyler's locomotive, mine/ours also has a broken step. 

Who doesn't remember going through the first few pages of MR as a child and seeing the (?) Associated Hobby ads?  Why for only $20 as a child what an empire you could have.
