“New Haven Railroad box car 31519, a 30000 series box car of 6,000 ordered in 1941 by the railroad, is seen in a yard in Providence, Rhode Is, 1956. Forty Foot Box Car 31519 class XM was built by Pullman Standard in the group of cars 31000 to 32999 in 1944. During the 1950's a good number of this series of box cars were sold to a leasing company, and they were refurbished, then leased back to the New Haven Railroad wearing one of the McGinnis era paint schemes.

The name of the photographer that captured this image is David R. Sweetland.”
