These cars were rebuilt from earlier classes in the 1940s. Caption: “Late '55, vacuum cooling of head lettuce gained popularity in the industry. Also, Bud Antle pioneered the use of cardboard cartons that held 24 heads of lettuce, instead of wooden crates that held 48 heads.
