You can often pick up fully functional OLDER versions of software packages (such as AutoCad) - but not 'licensable' because the current owner of the software doesn't support it any longer ... on eBay - and for really reasonable prices. Another solution is to find one that is 'highly similar' (essentially the same user interface) and be able to use it without having to go the subscription route for the "premier" product. I have done that for several products such as Photoshop.
I have not tried this for AutoCad so don't know that product line/history well enough to say whether or not it is possible for it. - Jim in the PNW
