I was using AutoSketch for my 2D drawings which saved files at .skd files. The AutoSketch9 program that I have cannot open them although and search online says that AutoSketch can open them. However, it might be that I am using a program I found online for free.

I used inkscape for one project, and if i recall correctly i did exactly that - imported DXF files from CAD and exported Corel Draw Files, after I'd finished my edits inside inkscape. It was quite good, recommend trying it.
