Clark LNE 8001- 8750 were 1923 ARA Steel Sheathed cars. The roofs were flat panel and later rebuilt with diagonal panel roofs after WW2. They are NOTHING like any accurail kit. Now 7001-7200 are SS cars. When I discussed these cars in my clinic I was informed they were rebuilt from flats. I haven't been able to confirm that. They were built in 1916. I suppose you could start with an Accurail 7000 series 6 Panel car but the ends are wrong, the roof is wrong, and the sides would need modification.

I was just browsing through the "Classic Freight Cars" 40' box car books. I found some candidates that might work using Accurail cars. CN 573500-574699 really cool double door car. Would like to know a little about the proto, like what roof it had? CB&Q 28000-28599 Looks shorter and not sure of the roof? LNE 8001-8750 again the roof is not easy to identify GB&W 6000-6298 I can see if these cars had fishbelly underframes, ends and door, but the roofs car a mystery.
Thanks for any help given. Would like to turn my Accurail SS kits into something useable on the layout. Clark
