Thanks Ed. We wondered about that possible heritage but couldn't get far

The car is a former troop sleeper built by Pullman-Standard and
modified for use as an express refrigerator car. There were 275 such
cars in series 6600-6874 owned by Central West Refrigerator Despatch
(CRDX). An in-service photo of #6787 is shown in Railway Prototype
Cyclopedia Vol. 7 on page 68.
