Re: New book on Southern 40' steel box cars

I agree with Don, here, but for different reasons.
I only have one computer monitor, as I believe is
common, and it's nice to be able to look at more
than one photo at a time, maybe three or four.
Yeah, yeah, you can open more than one at a time
on the screen, but it's not the same.

As to the 11x17 printer, there is at least one on
the market:
And here's a review:

I no longer have any financial interest in this

There is much merit to what you suggest, Tim,
but I see
two problems.
Some of us, myself amongst them, are not the
mod. Indeed, I
have several friends whose names are well known
in this hobby
that won't go near a computer let alone own one.
The other
issue is computer printers. How many have you
seen that will
handle an 11 x 17 sheet of paper?

Quoting Tim O'Connor <timboconnor@...>:

As a former member of the SRHA, I would only
ask them to
produce the
series on CD-ROM! My library shelves are
jammed, and I much prefer
browsing books in PDF format (zoom, search,
print only if
desired) on my computer than in book form. I
wish I could turn my
whole library into PDF format -- hundreds of
books probably
will fit
on a single standard hard disk now (e.g. 100
GB or larger).

The SRHA web site does have part of the book
in PDF format -- very
nice. They should add a Paypal link so I can
pay $10-15 to download
the whole thing to my hard drive. Phooey on
paper books!!!
