Richard, you got to this one before me, and you are indeed
correct. But let me say for anyone who is interseted that the
NP also painted the roofs of there composite box car fleet black
all during the 1940's. This is well shown in the color photos
taken during WWII here in Chicago by Jack Delano for the
government.
