Weren't these the prototypes or close to prototypes for Ambroid's stock car kit? I don't think it's that bad and if the wooden parts representing pressed steel braces are a little hokey they can be replaced with shaped polystyrene parts that Bob hundman described in his USRA gon article.
The only thing I didn't like about that kit is that the floor sections did not fit inbetween the side braces.
