This past year I assembled a new old-stock Suncoast FGE reefer kit (#6003), and I thoroughly enjoyed both the effort and the result. The kit was all wood, very complete, and required quite a bit of careful fabrication of dimensional lumber- much more than the usual Ambroid/Northeastern/Quality Craft. Like all wood kits, adequate sealing of the wood prior to assembly, careful fitting, and devoted attention to neat glue application (white) were essential to a fine result.

The usual limitations of wood modeling with reference to surface detailing, etc. apply, but the end result is still pretty nice.
