Ya know, unless you're using thousands of the things, it takes about 5 seconds to make a corner grab with a pair of pliers and a piece of wire. There are many sizes on the prototype cars, but only a couple of sizes made for HO scale.
Same thing with cut levers. Practice and you can get it down to about 10 seconds.
