One of the STMFC listers reported that two of the Unicel cars were purchased by ACL , painted, lettered, and apparently used as revenue cars. I have not heard more about this, but would be very interested.
A close inspection of the limited published information on the Unicel cars (including a very close look at the recent Unicel drawings at the Chicago Art Institute) shows that two different demonstrator cars (or two versions of the same car photographed with alterations between) were definitely constructed (an insulated box car, and a mechanical refrigerator car), and a third one (ice reefer) may or may not have been constructed (probably the latter).
The heavy laminated wood construction of these cars was downright remarkable.
