To be fair to the people here who have always been most generous in sharing information, there are many types of questions that have been asked before and I am sure that they must be tired of answering them, though they are generally very gracious about this. What you must recognize however is that many records of the period have been lost destroyed or hidden if the information was though worth recording in the first place. This problem especially seems to affect tankcars - tanks were owned by hundreds of different companies many of which are long gone. So unless you can find a good photo of a specific car at a specific time then you sometimes have to guess at the right combination of trucks and other fittings. However many of these photos are still copyrighted and cannot be freely published - others are not and several of the list members have been generous in sharing photos when they are able. Some can be seen at http://www.steamfreightcars.com/gallery/tanksmain.html The archives can be found by going to HYPERLINK "http://groups.yahoo.com/group/STMFC/messages"http://groups.yahoo.com/gr oup/STMFC/messages You can then enter search terms to find messages that contain the terms you searched for, or if you are really keen you can read every message in the archives. There is also the Freightcars list which is more general. The list has a searchable archive which has much useful information – the most useful steam era information is generally found in postings before the formation of this list http://sunny16.photo.tntech.edu/~richard/Freightcars/archive/search.php3 Aidrian -- No virus found in this incoming message.
