Sorry the slow reply, Jim, as I was out of
town until tonight.
The PFE Chief Mechanical Officer I interviewed said
that the roof
numbers were NEVER standard, and were NEVER applied
to anywhere near
all the fleet. I know from photos that size and
location differed in
different cases. If you want the roof numbers, I
think there were
possibly still a few in the 1950s, but my own model
fleet for 1953 does
not have any and won't have any. Of course, YMMV.
