Pickle Plant: Another Oddity

For those of us following the pickle car posts, there
is a picture of part of the Ma Brown pickle plant in
Chicago on page 85 of Classic Trains Steam Glory 2,
sadly with no pickle cars visible.

But there is an unexpected Virginian hopper a long way
from home that's spotted next to what looks like the
boiler room. If it was unloading coal, I wonder why a
Virginian car. Vast amounts of steam coal were moving
to Chicago every day on single-line billing from much
closer coalfields in southern Illinois, southern
Indiana, and elsewhere. Or was the car actually
spotted to load something from the brick silo that
straddled the track?
