I'd like to paint my CNW gon in the wonderful faded look shown on the cover of Vol 2 of Prototype Railroad Modeling. Has anyone duplicated this faded red, if so, what is the formula? If not, any suggestions for those of us who like Floquil paint?
To make faded boxcar red (using Floquil), add Reefer Yellow to Boxcar Red until you get the color that you want. If you add white (the logical choice), you'll end up with pink instead. If the prototype cars were painted with a color other than regular boxcar red, I'd start with that color and then fade it with yellow.
