Al,

I think this cars is painted in the mineral red scheme based upon the white stenciling, but it's really heavily dusted with an almost uniform coating of grey looking dirt.? Normally, the grey cars would have black stenciling.? Just by odd chance, I wonder if the photo shown has been "photo-shopped" to an over all?grey tone to protect it's selling value.

Tim - These cars were converted to salt service in the 1950s traveling from salt mines to icing stations. Series was 40050-40094, 45 cars. This is the first photo I've seen of these cars in the gray paint scheme. We offer the series in freight car red from existing photos. - Al Westerfield
