Brakeman riding car

Double slip switches in a steam-era freight yard lead. Very cool.
Notice the switchtender/yardman in the chair by the DS switch. That
must have been a high-seniority job.

I was drawn to it because of the brakeman but then I noticed the
odd car end
corrugations and arched roof. Wonder if that's enough to
possibly identify
this car class? Experts -- wht do you say?
