if the
trucks are ACF A-3's Ride Control, they look to be, but I am not
certain.
Does anyone have a better photo of CNW series 82652-84250 (even No's
only)
to tell for certain. The article also states 300 cars got Apex
Tri-lok roof
walks and 500 got Gypsum, but it does say how these were distributed.
First
300 got Apex, last 500 Gypsum? Thanks.
Brian,
Trucks on the 800 cars were spring-plankless Barber S-2 Stabilized. The
first 300 cars had Apex running boards & brake steps, the last 500 had
U.S. Gypsum.
All cars had Ajax hand brakes. This data comes from the CNW diagram
for these cars, and is documented by photographs.
AC&F builder's photos of 83574 and 83642, both new 1-45, illustrate
that the left side of the cars had "The Overland Route" and the right
side had "Route of the 400 Fleet." As built the sides and trucks
received CNW #3 freight car red (red oxide). Ends, roofs, running
boards & underframes were black. White stencils.
