Re: window screens for Santa Fe Cabooses

I use the AMB screen kits on my ATSF cabooses, even the Intermountain. I did not like their etched screens.

Andy,

Please, by all means, see if we can get the names of this new wonder material that we can all use.
Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Bill,

I seem to recall having a somewhat recent short discussion about window screens on Santa Fe cabooses. Could that have been with you?

Anyhow, recently my friend gave me a very strange tea bag (don't get political--I'm talking about the hot-brewed variety). It has a polyhedral box shape instead of the usual double folded saddle bag style. The reason I bring this up is that the material of the bag is a VERY fine mesh, much like HO scale screen door material. It allows easily read stenciled freight car lettering when viewed through two layers. My friend correctly thought that I would be interested.....

I don't know what brand, but I suspect it was from, and can be found, in a Chinese restaurant or grocery store. I believe that this could be an inexpensive source for HO screen. It unfolds to about 3 X 4 inches.

I will send a copy of this message to the STMFC.
