First, I thought I saw "sipping wine!"   WOW, what a subject shift!

You might want to check with museum folks at the Great Western Winery at Hammondsport, NY, in the Finger Lakes region.  They have many photos.  They shipping in bulk wine from other regions way back . . . .

Subject: [STMFC] Shipping Wine

The ROMA Wine tank cars are the most noted method of shipping wine by tank, but there were other wineries. Question is, how did the mfgrs LOAD those tank cars?  From the top or bottom?  Hoses?  How did they prevent oxidation from aeration during loading?  What kept the wine from sloshing around during shipment?

Thanks, guys!
