By the way Mike, I got a nice email from Don this morning and explained to
him that I do not want to be a manufacturer...I just wanted to buy some
great parts, knowing his quality. He said that I spent too much time on
the computer and not enough modeling, which I am guilty of when it gets
this hot. I asked him to let me know if I can buy these and where but have
not heard back from him yet.

Trucks for F&C Twin Tank Milk Cars - Thanks for the Help!

webotkin

Thanks to all who responded to my inquiry about trucks for the F&C Twin Tank Milk Cars. With all the suggestions, I stumbled on another option that seems to a good match from Athearn Parts. They have trucks available as parts for their Roundhouse 40' Wood Pfaudler Milk Cars and from the photos, they look correct with the longer wheelbase and 36 inch wheels. The parts number is:
ATHP90386 TRK 70T RTR 36"MACH WHLS CHINA for $7.98 (2pk)

Further evidence that the group owner's day is never done. Let's see...the last time I recall seeing one of these messages the guy was in Yugoslavia...or was it Guadalcanal? Anyhow, poor Mike Calvert's address book is in some jeopardy....as is his ability to sleep during the next few weeks. Well, the last time I ventured down to Moderate Jail the screams were pretty loud...I certainly couldn't sleep with that going on. Course, if we'd feed those poor slo...uh...members they'd probably be quieter...Anyhow, the issue has been taken care of.

I tossed this straight into the Spam can. Frauds of this nature are quite
common from Spain, which tends to be the fraud centre of Europe, but usually
relate more to Lottery wins and Santander bank.

If the guy had this accident he would be covered by his travel insurance,
if he had none, more fool him.

Re: C&O 100-ton Gondola article on eBay

Gene <bierglaeser@...>

Inter-library loan is a good way to get copies of articles from Railway Age and other such publications. The publication's name, date of issue and the article's title or at least the topic is all my library requires to get a copy of any article. That said, the copies are generally less than perfect. The text is always legible but sometimes the photos or drawings are barely useful. On the other hand, the price is right. Usually free.

AAaaaannnnnddddd.......just so everyone's clear. I was talking about the possibility of casting more parts for MY OWN personal needs, and not for resale or even for trade purposes.

'Course, that means that I'll finally have to get up off my duff and teach myself how to cast first......

Folks,

Just to clarify since Don indicated that these parts were listed in the Walthers catalog.  They are listed BUT, Walthers part #529-1000, 1/2 Door Conversion Kit, NERS for Accurail 4000, 4100, 4200 & 4300 Series Box Cars is listed as out of stock, no known re-stocking date.  Unless Don is planning on making more and sending them to Walthers, they are OOP.

Your humble suggestion is well taken, Tom, but I thought it wasn't yet clear that they still ARE available. I assume your suggestion would not apply to OOP parts.

American Coal Shipping, Incorporated in1956

Does anyone have any in depth material about the "coop" that was quickly  put together to ship american coal to Europe in 1956.  It apparently included mine operators, UMW, and the three main WV export railroads -- C&O,N&W and VGN.  They purchased 11 WW2 C-2 cargo carriers from the Bull Lines.
This was circa Oct-Nov 1956 when they getting approval Federal Maritime Board.
