Each original model can be seen at www.kadee.com by looking up the 4-digit catalogue number. In these cases, look through the "out of stock" page at http://www.kadee.com/ca/40ps1/40ps1b.htm

The two ATSF cars were built 5-50. MILW 35020 was built 10-51. WP 21068 was built ca. 10-51, however, the scheme for #4917 is a 7-58 repaint.

The GTW, CNW, and UP cars were built in 1957-1958.

Good evening. 
HOW ACCURATE ARE THESE BOXCARS? We would appreciate your expertise as always.

This afternoon we received the new HO scale ATLAS 1932 ARA 40' Boxcars in seven paint schemes...each with three unique numbers.   These cars are nice looking and feature some attractive paint schemes  with markings appropriate for the early 1930s to the late 1960s.  Check out the detail variations in the car ends, roof and brake wheel to name a few.

I should have mentioned that there are several Dietzgen drafting sets
on eBay, some of which might be useful to lay out ladders on steam era boxcars.

How far do you want to back date them?   The X29D was built between 1952 and 1956 with new bodies on the old frames.  They had three P&L during the time frame covered by this list.

Circle Keystone 1952 - January 1954
Shadow Keystone with calendar lettering these were only applied to cars built between January 1954 and July 1954.
Shadow Keystone with the more common standard lettering post August 1954

Variations in the roof depended entirely on when built and who supplied the roof for the particular car.  These cars did not undergo rebuilding during the time of this list

As a correction, Resin Car Works is not selling Sunshine Models decals. We used our blog to post a notice that Tricia Lofton found a bunch of Sunshine decals and would like to sell them off. Resin Car Works was a conduit for the announcement and have no further business connection.
 
 
Based upon the number of blog hits, Tricia Lofton may have received many more orders to fulfill than she expected. It’s been a number of years since she has fulfilled orders and other activities may be filling her time. Please be patient.
 
If you recall, it was often six months before Sunshine fulfilled kit orders. If your check has not cleared then your order has not been processed yet. Calling to check on your order or to complain will only slow down the processes on all the other orders.

GN 30000 AB Brake Detail

I'm building 4 Sunshine 77.2 and 77.3 Great Northern 30000 and 31000 series boxcars, and supposedly when the AB brakes were installed in the 1930's, the AB Controller and Airtank were put next to each other (not inline) on the same side of the underframe - the same side as the brake rod to the truck.  Kit Instructions indicate they were outboard of each other, with the controller near the sideframe.  This is one of those kits were the instructions are pretty vague.

For the life of me, I don't see how that can be done and still get the brake rod in there. No books I have show the underframes of these DS and SS boxcars. Anyone have a image or layout or words of wisdom?
