Hi Garth,
many thanks for your information. The yellow WP car definitely is very nice - but as you pointed out unfortunately not suitable for me (as are many others of those great Kadee Box cars).

Johannes, All the Western Pacific 40' PS-1s in series 20821-21400 were built in October or November 1951. These should all have silver lettering with the square herald, black ends and black roof. This paint scheme lasted until sometime around July 1955 when it began to be replacedby the yellow "Feather River Route" scheme on an all-red car body, ends, and roof as cars were shopped Nice choice, by the way. Hi Ed,
thanks to you, too. Maybe I will bid on the MILW car because it has superior doors - which no other of my cars have, if I remember right.

Each original model can be seen at www.kadee.com by looking up the 4-digit catalogue number. In these cases, look through the "out of stock" page at http://www.kadee.com/ca/40ps1/40ps1b.htm
The two ATSF cars were built 5-50. MILW 35020 was built 10-51. WP 21068 was built ca. 10-51, however, the scheme for #4917 is a 7-58 repaint.
The GTW, CNW, and UP cars were built in 1957-1958.

Re: bow compass/dividers
I should have mentioned that there are several Dietzgen drafting sets on eBay, some of which might be useful to lay out ladders on steam era boxcars. Chuck Peck

I think I can surmise Ed's purpose. My high school drafting set has been robbed of dividers for for laying out and measuring purposes at the model building desk. Sometimes a couple of extras might be useful. Do they still teach pencil and ink drafting in school? Likely not. I found that entry level machinists in some places are not taught how to sharpen drills. Chuck Peck back in Florida

I have one that size but it came from the drafting set I purchased in high school. For some slightly larger options:

Re: PRR X29D
SUVCWORR@...
How far do you want to back date them? The X29D was built between 1952 and 1956 with new bodies on the old frames. They had three P&L during the time frame covered by this list.

Circle Keystone 1952 - January 1954
Shadow Keystone with calendar lettering these were only applied to cars built between January 1954 and July 1954.
Shadow Keystone with the more common standard lettering post August 1954
Variations in the roof depended entirely on when built and who supplied the roof for the particular car. These cars did not undergo rebuilding during the time of this list

Looking at the F&C and WrightTrak models. Can the WrightTrak model be back dated by simply changing the lettering using the Mount Vernon Shops decals? Any thoughts on either model would be appreciated. Thanks
