Wine ventilators

Joseph

Hi folks,
While perusing RPCyc #34 I came across 3 photos of the FEC 600 series express boxcars. I have an undecorated kit and some athearn BX trucks, the decals are on order.... I need the Wine vents that are on the side to the left of the door. Other than on the Sunshine Seaboard 32 car I just bought at Lisle, built and sent to Jack O, are there any vents available?
Thanks,
Joe Binish,

My club ordered several hundred sets of custom decals from Microscale and are very pleased with the results. The printing is crisp and the whites are dense. We ordered some other custom decals from Kadee and while the small lettering was crisp, the white was too transparent.

Quality control leaves a LOT to be desired w/Microscale custom.

The drawing is for a PRR class GD with ten side stakes. IT 3065 looks a lot like the later version of PRR class GB: two feet shorter in length, with eight side stakes. In fact, the details on the IT car are close enough that they might be ex-PRR GB.

Hi Bill and List Members,

Bill, that has not been my experience. My business partner and I have ordered custom decals from Microscale which we deliver as part of our Hell Gate Models kits that we sell. On multiple orders over the course of years, we never had any quality problems.

this and the following four photos are a character study of a DL&W hopper.  You can really see how that brake gear works!

Thanks David!  After looking though those books and doing some more searching, I was able to find this: https://nwhs.org/archivesdb/selectdocs.php?index=rs&id=3030  To me it looks almost exactly like the early IT center hopper in the photo.  What do you guys think?  I think I will put this on my summer 3D print project.  Thanks!

Steam loco photos

Schuyler Larrabee

I should probably alert you all that the Steamtown photo listings have, since before Christmas, had a series of photos from the Steve Hepler collection, the majority of which are images of DL&W steam locomotives.  If you’re interested, go to

http://lists.railfan.net/listthumb.cgi?erielack-01-10-18

where you will find several that were posted today.  To get to the others, at the top of that list of thumbnails, click on the “Previous Photos from  . . .” link and you can go back through these pages to find the others.  There are a lot of really good detailed images at high resolution.  You want to save them (if you do) as they appear on the screen, which is way too large for any of your monitors, as that will give you the most detailed image to work with.  If you click on “Fit Width” as I always to, the pixel count is reduced.

They are posted to that site by Paul Tupaczewski.  This will be continuing for some indeterminate time into the future.
